Why is this important to me? I've always been interested in all things remote control. Since getting my first 3D printer, I have come across many wonderful designs for RC planes and cars. As a Marine Design Engineer, I naturally wanted to explore the world of 3D printed remote control boats and was surprised to see the number of quality designs were very limited. So, I decided to design my own which led me down a rabbit hole of hundreds of hours of design work, research and development. From this, the SillyGoose Speedboat was hatched.
RC boating is typically a very expensive hobby with boats of similar performance costing upwards of $500! My goal with SillyGoose is to reduce this cost significantly by utilising 3D printing to open up the hobby to a much wider group. With your support we can make this possible!

Why I am raising funds: I am raising funds to complete the development of the SillyGoose RC Speedboat! There are many many different factors that go into the design and development of a project like this including:
- Sourcing of Parts: The internal components have been meticulously chosen to provide the optimal balance between weight, power and usability!
- Time: This hull has been designed from scratch with many failed prototypes and test prints. Research and development has been an integral part of the project from calculating prop sizes to optimal motor placement and much much more.
- Software: Multiple software packages have been used in the development of this project including dedicated hull design software, 3D modelling software and rendering packages.
Content Creation: My aim is to create content to inspire people to build their own SillyGoose and
show a bit about the engineering behind it.
User Guide: It's very important that you guys have a seamless experience putting together this project. For this reason I am working on the development of an easy to use assembly guide.
Stretch Goals:
All funding is very much appreciated! I would love to develop this design further and introduce new features and accessories!

3. How do I plan to execute it?
My execution plan is designed for 30 days and consists of several key steps:
- Phase 1: finalize the design by addressing issues identified in the testing phase and prepare final 3D models for printing.
- Phase 2 (post funding): Release the 3D files to backers and publish all PDF guides to ensure smooth assembly.
- Phase 3 (further development): if funding allows, I would love to design and release stretch goal models and keep expanding the parts and accessories to improve customizability.
Materials and Printing:
The boat has been designed to be printed in 3 main sections and can be printed comfortably on the P1S. Therefore it is suitable for printing using printers of a similar size or larger.
- The main hull sections use ABS for its excellent impact and water resistant properties.
- For interior brackets such as engine and ESC mounts, I have used ASA-CF for its low-weight and heat resistant properties
