Elegoo ASA printing and respooling
Elegoo ASA printing and respooling

So I've been fighting with some Elegoo ASA I bought, I could just never get the thing to print right.

I followed all the proper step, even drying the filament, but my dryer only went to 65 degrees celsius. Turns out that was part of the problem.

After drying at 80 degrees, I got MUCH better results.

Top  : After drying.

What was I printing you ask? Read on and find out…

Afterwards came my next challenge : I was using it on the external spool holder of my H2D, but now that it's dried, I kind of wanted to use it in the AMS, but it came on a cardboard spool. I did print some rings for it, but they felt kind of average to me. I wanted something better! Then I found some nice posts for adapter “cores” to put inside of larger cardboard spools to use them with Bambu OEM spools. I searched and I searched for a 82mm ID adapter and just as I was about to CAD one… I realized that the answer was in my face all along. The cardboard core was already the right dimension. I just needed to put the Bambu spool on and voilà. Problem solved. Now I just need to print a sticker saying it's actually Elegoo ASA and not Matte PLA and I'm good to go!
