Parametric Snake Link

This OpenSCAD script generates a snake-like chain link with customizable ball-and-socket joints. Unlike traditional snake chains, these links can be printed separately and easily snapped together. The ball joint allows each link to rotate freely, creating a more fluid, snake-like movement of the scales compared to axis-restricted hinges.

🔧 Parametric design

The squircle-based link shape is fully adjustable, with options to modify the squareness, wave distortion, and base dimensions for both organic and mechanical designs.

The ball joint and socket modules are designed as reusable OpenSCAD modules that you can include in your own projects. Released under Creative Commons Attribution (CCA), you’re free to use, modify, and share it however you like.
