I want to start printing this this weekend. I'm kinda new to 3d printing. I have a bunch of petg. Do you think it would work fine if I printed everything out of petg?

I never tried printing the elements in PETG. The shell needs a lot of rigidity to hold the drawers in a multi level tower. And PETG is quite flexible and much less rigid than PLA. You can just print one unit and check if it holds the drawer with the full weight of stuff you plan to store. If you do I would be very interested in your results.

The shell is a little tight printing in standard settings on X1C w/ .4mm nozzle. Used a mallet to hammer the pieces together, but it is very solid

Thank you for trying out the model. The tightness was done on purpose to create a friction fit that stabilizes the rack mechanically. On my X1C with 0.4mm nozzle the fit was very nice. I only had to tap the elements lightly with the back of a screwdriver to get them together. I will add a testpiece to the models so anybody can test out the fitting before printing the whole rack.
