Polyphemus Bust

Inspired by the most iconic depiction of Polyphemus, this 3D printable bust captures the raw power of one of Greek mythology's most legendary figures. The deeply carved hair, imposing beard, and distinctive single eye have been translated into a traditional sculptural style while faithfully preserving the original proportions and overall likeness of the famous representation.

Polyphemus is the best-known of the Cyclopes, the son of Poseidon and the sea nymph Thoosa. In Homer's Odyssey, he traps Odysseus and his companions inside his cave and begins devouring them one by one. To escape, Odysseus devises a legendary trick: after intoxicating the giant with wine, he blinds his single eye with a sharpened, burning stake. When the other Cyclopes come to help, Polyphemus cries that "Nobody" is attacking him, since Odysseus had introduced himself under that false name. The Greeks then escape by hiding beneath the giant's sheep. Enraged, Polyphemus calls upon his father Poseidon for revenge, setting in motion many of the hardships that Odysseus endures on his journey home.

This bust pays tribute to this timeless mythological character through a faithful sculptural interpretation of his most recognizable appearance, making it a perfect piece for enthusiasts of Greek mythology and 3D printing.
