Description
Toolify3d socket holders (ToolGrid style socket holders)
This version takes two screws. having downloaded and printed other creators versions with the pegs, they took longer to print and i could fit less on each page due to supports.
This version can fit almost double the amount on one build plate, requires no supports! however the draw back is that it requires two screws.
You will find in the print profile several files:
- ¼ inch version (Solid colour)
- ¼ inch version (Red top to highlight a missing socket)
- 3/8 inch version (Solid colour)
- 3/8 inch version (Red top to highlight a missing socket)
- ½ inch version (Solid colour)
- ½ inch version (Red top to highlight a missing socket)
Of course the top colour can be changed to whatever you desire.
i have these printed in solid black as that's my preference, using Sunlu matte HS PETG. i did raise my bed temperature to 75c which may have been a little too tough to remove… but it works for me :)
so please perform the test print ‘ALL HOLDERS’ before attempting a full plate
each print profile contains one, simply copy as many as you like or fill the plate with copies!
NOTE: these are as shallow as i could possibly go without compromising strength to maximize the height of which i could fit sockets in the draw upright.
therefore these require 4x8mm thread forming screws. i am using some cheap ones from amazon with an 8mm head (the maximum size these are designed for, the crew only bites lightly into the base board but this is enough to hold big sockets (See photo of Lambda sockets) and also has been holding my 41mm socket for a few months now without issues.
Just don't go slamming your draws in rage!
alternatively you can find proper plastic thread forming screws with the thread the same size all the way down rather than the ‘pointed tip’ version that I'm using to be extra cheap as i found 100 screws for £5
To my knowledge these should be compatible with any other creators ToolGrid style boards and the genuine ones utilizing 9.5mm between holes.
each holder will sit perfectly next to the same holder size on my boards, though depending on socket size you may have to space them apart slightly.
If putting a ¼ next to a 3/8 or 3/8 next to a ½ version there will be a slight gap.
I have tested these with PLA+, PLA CF, PETG, PETG CF. i cannot confirm that any other material works but im sure it would. I print these cheaply from PETG HS matte black Sunlu filament
