🔧 Quest 3 Controller Strap Fix / Replacement Insert

Did the standard strap holder on your Meta Quest 3 Touch Plus Controller break or get lost?
No problem—I made a simple, repairable replacement that can be printed in minutes

This is a kit of several parts that allows you to

  • 🔁 replace the original plastic element
  • 🧵 install a new cord without complicated threading
  • 🔒 securely fasten the strap without the risk of slipping out

⚙️ How it works

  • The main part is pressed into the controller
  • The cord is threaded through special slots and glued with superglue, this fixes the cord in the plastic element that is inserted into the controller
  • Next, a sliding locking element is used
  • It:
    • is put on the cord
    • is inserted into the housing
    • is secured with a piece of filament (like a pin)
    • is soldered with a soldering iron (or superglue can be added)

👉 As a result, you get a strong construction that is no worse than the factory one

🧵 Cord used

For this project, I used

  • a cord with a diameter of 1.5 mm
  • approximately 40 cm long

This size is optimally suited

  • easily threads into the parts
  • fixes well
  • comfortable for the hand

👉 Important: the actual diameter of cords may vary slightly even with the same nominal value

🔧 Adjustment for a different cord

If you have

  • a thicker or thinner cord

you can easily adapt the model

  • change the size of the locking (sliding) element
  • accordingly increase or decrease the holes for the cord

💡 The easiest way is to

  • edit the model in CAD
  • or change the scale of only this part in the slicer
