Description
The figurine is therefore the perfect, macabre interpretation of the Poludnitsa—a spirit who has kept the bride's attire but lost her beauty, and instead of a symbol of labor (a sickle), wields a symbol of death (a scythe) to administer punishment for violating the ban on working at noon.
