Description

Inspired by a similar model for the Aqara Water Leak Sensor.

I wanted to be able to detect when the shower is no longer in use and run some automations (eg. turn off the light) in Home Assistant. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find the Aqara sensor for a good price to I bought a similar sensor from IKEA.

What this print does is to rise the sensor so water doesn't get stuck on the bottom due to surface tension. The legs can be adjusted so the sensor can be placed anywhere, including on non-plane surfaces.

Please keep in mind this sensor will beep loudly as soon as it detects water and I wasn't able to “silence” it with tape on the buzzer. Fortunately it's easier to open and the buzzer can be removed with basic soldering skills (and tools): add more solder to the pins and use a solder sucker to remove most solder. After that simply use the solder iron to push the pins out of their holes, a bit at a time.

The model in the pictures was printed on a P1S in PLA with a 0.4 nozzle, 0.08 layer height with ironing on, by object not by layers.
