I designed this gated shifter plate to replace the OEM leather shift boot in my VW New Beetle. I wanted something that gives the shifter a more mechanical and precise feel while also improving the interior look. The model went through several prototype versions to get the shifter travel and alignment right. Reinforcement ribs were added to increase rigidity and durability.
