Bio
3D printing for a charity project in memory of my son Thore.
Thore passed away in 2023 from an inoperable medulloblastoma after nearly three years of treatment at the pediatric oncology center in Augsburg (Germany).
Today, we refill “pieksekisten” – small boxes where children can choose a toy after procedures.
Many of these gifts are 3D printed and provided free of charge.

❤️ A Thank You to Every Designer ❤️
We wanted to share a small update with everyone who participated in our contest.
The Kids' Choice Award is currently taking place at Augsburg Pediatric Oncology.
The voting is still ongoing and, to keep everything fair, even we do not know the current results or which model is leading. The final outcome will remain a surprise until every child has had the opportunity to participate.
Something happened over the past few days that we never expected.
The voting box was originally meant to let the children discover the twenty selected models before choosing their favorite.
Instead, many children started asking the nurses if they could take their favorite model home with them.
The nurses couldn't resist those smiling faces.
Because of that, we have already started printing an entirely new voting box so that every child can continue to vote from the complete collection of models.
Honestly...
We could not have imagined more meaningful feedback.
Your models were not simply downloaded.
They were not just printed.
They were not only voted for.
They brought so much joy that the children wanted to take them home.
That is probably the greatest compliment any designer could receive.
Whether your model becomes the Kids' Choice Award winner or not, please know that every model selected for the hospital has already achieved something wonderful: it has brought joy to children during a very difficult time.
On behalf of all the children, their families, and our entire project:
Thank you. ❤️
Your creativity, your time and your generosity have created something truly special.
We cannot wait to share the final Kids' Choice Award results with all of you once the hospital voting has been completed.

📢 Our first External Printing Campaign has started!
Many of you asked whether it would be possible to support the Pieksekisten project by printing models.
The answer has always been yes—but only through a coordinated process.
Today we've opened our first external printing campaign.
If you'd like to print models for children at the pediatric oncology ward, we'd love to hear from you.
Simply visit our External Printing Support topic, choose one of the requested models and submit your application.
Printing starts only after confirmation, allowing us to coordinate quantities and avoid unnecessary overproduction.
Thank you to everyone who would like to support the children. ❤️(Edited)

❤️ Kids' Choice Award Update ❤️
We wanted to share a small update regarding the Kids' Choice Award.
The voting at Augsburg Pediatric Oncology is now underway, and the first children have already participated. We recently received very positive feedback from the hospital and are happy to see the models being explored and enjoyed.
Since our main project communication takes place in our charity forum, we will continue to publish the more detailed updates, photos, and project progress there.
If you would like to follow the ongoing journey, including updates from the hospital and the Kids' Choice Award, please visit our project thread:

📢 Contest Update – Winners Announced & Kids' Choice Award Underway
Hello everyone,
we would like to provide a quick update regarding the current status of the Pieksekisten Charity Contest and the Kids' Choice Award.
Some community members have noticed that no winners are currently displayed on the contest page and have asked whether the judging process has already been completed.
The answer is yes.
The judging process has been completed and the winners have already been announced through MakerWorld's official press release and the associated media coverage.
Congratulations once again to:

Many people have asked why these results are not yet visible on the contest page itself.
MakerWorld has informed us that, due to current platform limitations, the contest page will be updated once the complete results are available. This allows the Top 3 winners, the Community Favorite, and the Kids' Choice Award winners to be presented together as one final contest result.
The Kids' Choice Award follows a separate process.
The selected models were delivered to the hospital on June 5th, and the children's voting process officially started on June 8th.
Unlike a normal online contest, this part of the project follows the schedule and daily routines of the hospital environment. Because of this, the voting process may take several weeks before final results are available.
At the moment, we have not yet received any feedback regarding the current voting status, but we will gladly share updates once new information becomes available.
One particularly nice update is that the winning **Wall Decor & IV Stand Clip Pieksekisten x Art Zig** design is already being used within the pediatric oncology environment and has also been distributed within the day clinic.
Thank you again to all participating designers, supporters, donors, and community members who made this project possible.

Hi everyone 👀
I’ve been very quiet lately in the contest discussion.
That usually means one thing:
**something is happening behind the scenes.**
And… yes. It is 😄
Over the past days, printers have been running far more than usual.
Not just for the public project updates.
Not just for the website gallery.
Not just for adding new printed contest entries.
A lot of things have quietly moved from “interesting design on a screen” to **real physical objects sitting on the table.**
And let me tell you something:
That changes everything.
Because a design always feels different once it exists in real life.
You suddenly notice things you can’t see on a contest page.
How does it feel in your hand?
How intuitive is it?
Does it invite interaction?
Does it make you smile immediately?
Does it survive reality? 😄
Would a child instantly grab it?
That’s where things get really interesting.
And right now…
that exact phase is happening.
No names.
No hints.
No spoilers.
But I can say this:
Some designs that looked simple became surprisingly brilliant.
Some designs that looked impressive became very different once physically tested.
And some completely unexpected entries created *very strong reactions* the moment they came off the printer.
That’s honestly one of the most fascinating parts of this entire contest.
What started as a design contest has become something much more tangible.
Real prints.
Real testing.
Real discussions.
Real excitement.
And yes…
**the atmosphere here is getting very, very interesting 😄**
Also:
The public project side keeps moving too.
More printed models were added.
More designer credits documented.
More photos processed.
More real prints added to the growing archive.
Watching this community turn ideas into actual objects for children is something special.
And now we’re entering the phase where things become… difficult 😅
Because eventually decisions have to be made.
That’s all I’ll say for now 👀
But trust me:
**some really fun moments are still ahead.**
❤️

This wasn’t planned. But it’s growing.
Over the past weeks, something started here that I didn’t fully expect. What began as a simple question — asking designers if it would be okay to print their models for children in pediatric oncology — slowly turned into something much bigger. People said yes. Designers shared their work. Prints started coming off the machines. And step by step, something real began to take shape. Not planned. Not structured. Just growing through the people involved. The idea behind “Pieksekisten” is simple.Children going through treatment often spend a lot of time in situations that are anything but easy. And sometimes, a small object — something to hold, to play with, to focus on — can make those moments just a little bit better. That’s where all of this is leading. Over the past days, another shift happened.More people joined. More ideas came in. And it became clear that this could go beyond just a few prints.Something is forming in the background right now. And today, it’s live. The Pieksekisten Design Contest is now officially open.Together with MakerWorld, we’re opening this up to more creators. You can explore it here and follow along as it grows:https://makerworld.com/en/contests We’re opening this up in a way that allows more creators to become part of it — not as a typical competition, but as something that connects what we create with real moments. Not about winning. Not about numbers. But about creating things that actually reach someone, somewhere, when it matters. I’ll share more as this continues to grow. For now, I just wanted to show you where this is going. —If you want to follow how this evolves: Forum thread https://forum.bambulab.com/t/charity-3d-printing-for-kids-at-augsburg-pediatric-oncology-pieksekisten/239767 Website https://thores-pieksekisten.de/ Instagram https://www.instagram.com/thore_medulloblastom_kaempfer
