I recently watched Dune: Part Two and was captivated by the iconic Thumper.
Inspired by its design, I decided to create a functional 3D-printed replica with a twist: my Thumper serves as a unique watering system!
Here's how it works:
Body: Acts as the water reservoir.
Spike: Inserted into the ground, it has holes to diffuse water.
Top Part: Floats on the water, indicating the water level inside the Thumper.
If you want, this is video of the modeling, assembling and the Thumper in action:
!! PRINTING TIPS !!
Use at least 4 walls for ensuring water tightness for the body, the buoy and the spike
The top.stl should be printed with fewer walls (2 or 3) and should be printed empty, with lighting infill (otherwise it will be too heavy and won't float)
The parts should be printed following the orientation in this pic:
Beautiful print!!! but I think you can reduce the holes for the water, because the water runs out quite fast. and i just found out that this can be solved easily by stuffing some Dacrons. 😃
