Description

A Gridfinity version of my sci-fi case. I wanted to explore Gridfinity a little bit for my tool organization needs, and decided to start with a gridfinity version of the case I made. I'm digging it so far! This case has a grid of 4x5.

Like my Scifi case, it uses 16 m3x10 screws and 4 4x6mm cyclinder magnets. A piece of filament is used for the hinge. Assembly should be pretty straight forward. Insert the filament into the hinge to attach the two halves together. Screw the ends on.

The model has a difficult to print curved surface/edge, and works best when using a support material. I'm using Bambu's PLA Support material. There is a profile provided though that doesn't use any special support material, but still has supports turned on to help the edge print better.

Here's a link where you can purchase the magnets on the US Amazon store. If the Amazon store is out of stock, here's a few Alternatives HERE and HERE. Sorry for the stock troubles! I use this size of magnet regularly, and I think we've been causing stock to run out on a few sites.

the author was right about the rounded corners being troublesome, maybe try the PLA supports or use closer tolerances for the interface

Yeah, some sort of interface material like Bambu's PLA Support material is almost a must. I've printed a hand full of these things without, but it's always a tough print. I wish I could give out a sample size of PLA support out with every print. Haha. Thanks for taking the time to print it though!

Replying to @Josheh_3D :
I got some support as a sample with my X1C, I'll give that a go next time I have enough of a filament I like for a couple of these
