Description

Here’s a train to bring some Christmas spirit to your home!

The train is designed to be glued together to avoid filament waste and reduce tons of printing time. It has functional wheels. I’m planning to make more trains—and maybe even some carriages down the line. Hope you enjoy it!

Heads-up: the inside of the train compartment has a rough finish where the overhangs are, but I went with this design to avoid any visible seams on the body. After weighing a few options, I felt this was the best way to go.

Colors I used:

Bambu Basic PLA Gold

Bambu PLA Matte Black
Feel free to tweak the colors to match your holiday decor!

Nice model!! Thank you for sharing with us! I went with green for the main body to give those full Christmas vibes! My only suggestion for improvement is the thin gold pieces... make the recesses in the green main body deeper and then make the gold pieces a bit taller so they can sit and snap in better. With these being so thin trying to align these and use some glue was very challenging without having residue. (I also realize I forgot to print the gold rings that go around the green main body)

Wow, your color choices look awesome! I definitely need to get some green filament myself. And yeah, I should work on improving the snap-ons for the ornaments—I struggled with that too. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks!!! :D The green I used is E-Sun Pine Green. Lovely color and looks GREAT in person (especially for Christmas!). I hope you add more trains cars down the line!

I'm ordering green as we speak, your print really convinced me! I'm working on a cart and will hopefully get it out before the weekend. :)

What filament/color is the silver-ish; it's amazing! it isn't a normal silver and I love the look.

Very nice model! I designed and printed a driver's cab. A bit filigree to put together but a nice end result.

Great model! My wife had been wanting a Christmas train for a while and as big as possible. Printed on our A1mini (no AMS) at 112% with Esun PLA+ (Fire Engine Red, Black and Gold) Because i scaled up the design my tolerances would have altered and some pieces were slightly out of groove, but you adapt with the situation and it still came together nicely. The main body rings were a little hard to align squarely and with a super glue which set fast, misalignment was an issue, a couple subtle grooves might be helpful here for glue control and alignment. My wife wanted a carriage to go with the train. I designed a carriage to suit the scaled up 112% model. Now she wants another printed and a coal carriage to go with as well. Thanks for the model and some creative beginnings.

Your filament choice looks fantastic! What kind of gold filament did you use? It’s way shinier than mine!

I printed this a while ago so I apologize for the delay. I printed this for my wife and her team for work. it turned out… amazing. I had to adjust the scale quite a bit for our project… as you may tell from the photos. If i remember correctly it took about 4 spools… It took me weeks to adjust, edit, scale each at 300%, I believe. I enjoyed it, my kids enjoyed it, better yet my wife and her coworkers enjoyed it. One of her coworkers actually went out and bought a Bambu because of it haha. amazing print.
