Description

----2025.3.25 Update

  • Redo the model based on the feedbacks, optimise the structure and reduce the pringting time.
  • Slightly adjust the installation sequence in the installation manual.
  • Slightly increase the height of the A4 canopy.
  • Thin parts have the brims turned on by default and can be turned off if your print plate is glued.

----

Ancient paper umbrella that can be opened and closed, the bones are 3D printed pieces that needs to be put together and the canopy can be printed with A4 paper.

Attached are instructions for fitting the umbrella bone, and an A4 size printout of the canopy.

Due to the small size of some parts, they need high toughness, otherwise they will break easily, and the umbrella handle switch needs to be flexible,

So PETG or ABS is recommended (I use PETG).

Please see the attachment for the installation of umbrella bones [ Installation of bones_0325.pdf ]

The process of making the canopy:

  1. Print the attachment A4_canopy paint_0325, then cut and fold it into the following figure, 16 pieces in total, the dotted range is the subsequent range that needs to be pasted;

  2. Use 3M tape or other glue to attach the umbrella in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction, one by one, with the dotted part of the latter piece covering the dotted part of the former piece.

Awesome model, very well made and the instructions are the "icing on the cake"! I made it with PLA because I like this light brown and came out pretty well. Just be careful when pushing those little pin (I broke one 😅), surely with PETG would work better. Thank you!
