might be worth trying to increase "XY Contour Compensation" setting when printing. I suggest starting with 0.05, and dialing it in to fit better

broke every time I printed because the supports were too hard to get out eventually just gave up

It printed, but with lots of filament stringing around it. when I tried to remove the stringing it broke.
