Stop Block Guide for Lie-Nielsen Honing Guide
Print Profile(1)

Description
This is a reference guide for a creating a primary and secondary bevel on woodworking tools, primarily woodworking chisels and hand plane blades. Put your blade up to the block, secure your honing guide, and you can use the honing guide on your whetstones to dial in your bevels.
This is inspiried by two sources (this 3D print is not formally affiliated with either of them, but please check out these authors/teachers and their work):
- Deneb Puchalski's Angle Setting Jig / The Lie-Nielsen honing guide (Pages where both PDFs are hosted is here for context.)
- The sharpening method in the book “Sharpen This” by Chris Schwarz
Chris uses a similar block that he built in his shop with scrap wood, which essentially is like a micro-version of Deneb's Jig with the two bevels that he primarily uses. I'm not sure which came first - like with everything in woodworking the actual first one was probably made in the 1700s (I think they'd both agree with that sentiment even if that's factually innacurate).
Enjoy!
