Description

The brand new McLaren MP4/4, piloted by the famous Ayrton Senna, is very good except for one crucial detail: the ratio of front to rear tyres does not match reality at all and can distract a bit. Yet all you have to do is print the tyres again and change the set slightly.

A few important tips:

  • OK, the tyres are not a 1:1 original, but close enough for me and printable.
  • You have to a adjust the floor of the formula a bit and use a shorter rear axles. For more details see this great and practical video from RacingBrick on YouTube. (No, my tires are different from the video, designed from scratch.)
  • Yes, it can be nice to have these tyres flexible, but is much easier to print them from PLA/ABS/ASA with white or yellow letters on top.
  • Use Arachne perimeter generator for better details on top.
  • Do NOT use Aligned Seam in your print profile, use Random position choice instead. The points around the tire match the collected dirt from the track better than an aligned and very distracting seam.
  • You can use Axle_tolerance_test_piece to determine the axle tolerances (possibly tune up your print profile). However, desktop FFF printing is not completely accurate or repeatable.

I am also making this model available for printing for personal use free of charge.
You can support my work for community with 2 €/$ for a good cup of tea if you want via paypal.me/tvit.

Hopefully, I won't see scammers again who will print models for money without permission /license and profit from other people's work. It's really frustrating, over and over again. I don't even feel like sharing some of the models anymore. But let's stay positive.

  • 240317 … Due to the demand I prepared and added both models (front and rear wheel)  also without logos.
