v2 Yet Another Bicycle Chain Waxing Station !!
Print Profile(1)

Description
Take your bicycle maintenance to the next level! If you are switching to hot melt chain waxing for a silent, ultra-clean, and efficient drivetrain, this is the ultimate workshop upgrade you need.
This custom-designed stand perfectly integrates with popular, budget-friendly electric wax heaters, providing a stable base and a secure overhead drip hanger. No more messy wax drops on your workbench or awkward hanging solutions!
đ What's New in V2!
- Adjustable & Expandable Arm: The main arm now features a sliding mechanism, making it fully printable on standard 256x256 mm build plates!
- Increased Chain Clearance: The arm can now extend by an additional 40mm. When fully extended, the distance from the base to the hanging point is a massive 370mm. Plenty of room for even the longest chains.
- Redesigned Cable Clamp: The hanging mechanism has been vastly improved. It now uses just a single screw to quickly lock and loosen the cable when needed.
- Optimized for Shift Cables: While you can use any old bike cable, a derailleur shift cable is now highly recommended over a brake cableâit is thinner, more flexible, and allows the chain links to sit much better in the device.
- 100% Backward Compatible: If you already printed the base from v1, there is no need to reprint it! The new v2 arm fits perfectly into the existing v1 base.
⨠Key Features:
- Dedicated & Universal Bases: Includes a base with custom locking pins designed specifically for standard Pro-Wax style heaters (prevents any sliding). I've also included a Universal Base version that fits ANY wax pot up to 165mm in diameter!
- Integrated Drip Arm: Keeps the chain perfectly centered over the pot so excess hot wax drips right back in, saving material and keeping things clean.
- Cable Management: Features a dedicated spot to secure the heater's power cord with a zip tie for a neat and safe workbench.
- Raw 3D Aesthetics: Unapologetically functional. The design is intentionally styled to show off its 3D-printed structural origins.
đ ď¸ Bill of Materials (Hardware Update):
- 4x M3 Screws (14mm to 15mm length)
- 1x M3 Screw (10-12mm length - new, for the sliding arm mechanism)
- 1x M3 Screw (10mm - hinge of wire holder)
- 1x M3 Screw (18-20mm - wire tightening screw)
- 7x M3 Threaded Brass Inserts (M3 x 5mm length x 5.5mm Outer Diameter - 1 additional insert needed for v2)
- 1x Old bicycle inner cable (derailleur shift cable with the barrel end is highly preferred!)
- 1x Zip tie (for cable management)
- A compatible wax heater: Pro-Wax 400ml 120W
đ¨ď¸ Print Guidelines:
- Material: PETG, ASA, or ABS is highly recommended. Do not use PLA! The wax heater base gets warm, and PLA will eventually warp or soften.
đ§ Assembly Instructions:
- Melt the 7x M3 threaded brass inserts into the designated holes using a soldering iron.
- Assemble the base and the sliding arm using the M3 screws. Adjust the arm height to your preference and lock it in place with the 10mm screws.
- Thread your old bicycle shift cable through the newly designed top holder and lock it securely with a single screw.
- Place your wax heater onto the base (aligning with the pins if using the dedicated version).
- Route the power cable to the back and secure it with a zip tie.
- Melt your wax, dip the chain, and hang it to drip-dry like a pro!
Drop a like, share your makes, and enjoy your completely silent drivetrain!
