Description

PLEASE READ ME !!!

Firstly I would like to say quick thank you for checking out my model, so thank you!

Please note most of my models are made in Nomad Sculpt by hand and are my own renditions (Fan Art) unless stated otherwise.

Model info:

Here is a replacment (place holder) part for the mighty max play set from 1994 known as Max Traps Rattus, the model is simple by design to match the simple aesthetics of the original molded parts, The set itself is one of the original Mighty Max play sets by Bluebird Toys and has becom a highly sought after collectable.

The replacment part is known as ARAK NID it is the spider which doubles up as Ratts's nose, The set is very difficult to find complete and spare parts are very scarce to the point where I have only found one part online for around £60 for a single peice… The complete set, if you ever find it is between £150 - £180 depending on condition, the empty shells themselves go for £20 - £25 and with a single figure can boost from £70 to £100.

That being said if you are like me you may just buy the empty shell and patiently wait to find sepearte peices to complete the set which I usually do with most other sets, however this one is proving super difficult.

I want to be able to display Rattus looking somewhat complete whilst I wait, so I designed this simple replacemnet / place holder to fill in the void. chances are some of these parts will never become available so rather than keeping the empty shell I feel like anyone who owns one should have the chance to bring it back to some sort of former glory with 3D printed alternatives.

NOTE

Again this is simple design based on the original with little detail and intentional imperfection in shape  for an authetic look.

the model itsef was actually rather difficult to make and even more dificult to fit as there was nothing but photos to work from with 0 measurments (all trial and error).

once printed it will requre some manipulating - it's a snug fit and should clip in place, the legs may need bending slightly to fit perfect, this can be done with warm water or just bending it (I did).

Print in filimant of your choice I reccomend PLA Basic as this is what was tested.

Colour - The orignal spider is purple, Red was just for testing.

Supports can be difficult so use some cutter (sprue cutters or filiment cutters).

allow the print to fully cool to remove supports easier.

I do plan on making the ears and hopefully at some point the rest of the parts too although I have no specific time frame in mind as I am only a casual hobby maker and do have a couple of other things I am working on (toys for the kids) so please bear with me and keep a look out.

With all that being said I hope this helps some out there and that you like it:)

Boost Me (for free)

Please like, share, follow and BOOST, doing this allows creators such as myself to keep on making, Designing 3D models not only takes a substantial amount of time but also takes lots of material when test printing and causes extra wear and tear on our machines. BOOSTS are FREE and may not mean much to you but to us they are valuable and realy do help, so if you can please do :)

TIPS

  • Print using most types of PLA for best results.

  • Always allow build plate and print to cool down before removing.

  • Please ensure a clean print bed, when models dont adhere to a build plate its usually user error.

  • Please as always remove  supports with care

  • Use sprue cutters to help remove supports

  • If you accidentaly break something save fillament and use some CA glue instead of throwing a project out and reprinting.

  • Remember this is a hobby! Have fun, be kind and support your favourite designers with likes, follows and boosts

  • Once again thank you for taking the time to view and hopefully print this model.

Additional info:

Any BOMs (non printable parts/ bills of material) will be attatched below.

Thank you for viewing my model :)

Years of having the figure incomplete, you don't know the joy it gave me to come across this design! I hope you can design the ears and finally see it complete again!

Hi thanks for the comment, I am glad that it can help you, always good to see another collector. it's not perfect but it fills the gap, I may try and make it a bit better at some point but it's difficult as I have no parts myself to work from, it's all guess work. I have made some ears they are not quite right yet, they do fit but they still need some tweaking, once they are ready I will upload them. I still need to make some of the parts inside the shell too but I have no reference photos, the stand for max (cattle ram) and rattus's control panel (my set is literally the shell only) here is where I am at with the ears, I just need to make them thicker, and point backward a little. these have took me a very long time to figure out the actual shape of them because there is not one decent reference photo that shows the shape. You might be interested in my Swamp Thing print, it is my own version of a mighty max play set. https://makerworld.com/models/1997665?appSharePlatform=copy

Replying to @Munchylad101 :
The same thing is happening to me, my son used the structure by hand to play with it. Now I've recovered it and I'm waiting to complete it again! Thanks for reviving these memories 🙌
