Archer - Articulated Action Figure from Small Soldiers (WIP)
Bring the noble leader of the Gorgonites to life with this 3D printable model of Archer from the classic 1998 movie Small Soldiers! This is a work-in-progress design, so it's not 100% perfect yet, but it's already fully functional and ready for epic battles against the Commando Elite. I've tested it with my 6-year-old twins, who use it to re-enact thrilling scenes from the film—it's built tough for hands-on fun without easy breakage.
Key Features:
- Articulated Joints: Fully poseable with magnetic connections for smooth assembly and flexibility. The magnets let joints pop apart under pressure, protecting the model from damage during rough play—ideal for kids recreating those Gorgonite vs. Commando battles.
- Scale and Compatibility: Matches the movie's style and proportions, standing about 12 inches tall. Works seamlessly with the full Commando Elite squad (Chip Hazard, Butch Meathook, Nick Nitro, Brick Bazooka, Link Static, and Kip Killigan) and the rest of the Gorgonites I'm working on.
Assembly Requirements:
- Magnets: Requires 16 neodymium magnets for the joints. I used the AplysiaTech N52 3/8" Diameter x 1/4" Height - 30 Pack (available on Amazon: AplysiaTech N52-3/8 D x 1/4" H - 30 Pack, Powerful Small Rare Earth Magnets). They're super strong for holding poses but forgiving in play.
- Additional Materials: Just a bit of hot glue to secure the knees, elbows, and magnets. Simple and quick—no fancy tools needed.
Note: Archer (like most Gorgonites) can be a bit difficult to get to stand on his own due to his wider stance and design. He poses great in action stances and works perfectly when supported against other figures or scenery.
This model stands up to serious playtesting in our home—the magnetic design ensures it survives enthusiastic handling while staying true to Archer’s brave and wise character from the movie. If you print it, share your builds and feedback!
