Description

Summary

A customisable and parametric tow bar hitch cover to stop your hitch filling up with rubbish. Measure the inner width of the hitch, the outer width of the hitch face, and the distance and diameter of the locking pin hole on your tow bar hitch and enter them in the scad customiser. You can be quite accurate with these as you can also enter tolerances in the script (see below).

Defaults are fairly generic and should get you in the ballpark (in Australia at least) and default tolerances should also be pretty close for a good fit for your print.

 

If adding text, the text is offset for render due to scad render limitations (fuses text with the cover). To print: in your slicer, ensure the cover is face down on the plate then split to objects so all objects settle flush on the plate. Change the colours to suit your needs. You can also delete the text characters to leave an inlay behind in the cover.

 

You can also customise the following:
corner rounding for the face,
corner rounding on the external corners of the bar insert,
the length of the face side walls,
the thickness of the face and walls,
the thickness of the bar insert,
a tolerance gap for the face side walls,
a tolerance gap for the bar insert,
a tolerance gap for the locking pin holes,
add up to three lines of text.

 

The cover prints fine without supports for me, but this will vary by printer type. I've included .3mf files for both with and without supports, and the .stl, for one of the covers I made for myself.

 

I've added some bonus Holden logo covers for the Aussies ;)
