Description

The George Washington funeral medal is a rare early American commemorative piece struck in January 1800 by Jacob Perkins to honor the president following his death on December 14, 1799. These medals, often featuring a bust of Washington and an urn, were worn by mourners at funeral processions in Boston.   Recently, an episode of the Curse of Oak Island featured an episode where one of these medallions was discovered in there search for a lost treasure.
