V2—Improved Design & multi-color
After feedback and additional testing at the track, Im releasing a V2 version of the wheel hauler with several improvements.
The biggest upgrade is that the four wheel poles (tire spikes) now screw into the base using threads. This makes the design fully modular—if a pole ever breaks or wears out, you can easily unscrew and replace just that part instead of reprinting the entire carrier.
I have also revised the slicing settings and part geometry to improve strength and reliability, making the overall solution more durable for regular track use.
Why I made this model:
When I visited my local outdoor track for a club night, I realized I only needed four sets of wheels. Instead of lugging around a box of 15 sets, I designed a compact wheel carrier that holds exactly four sets while staying easy to transport.
Printing Instructions
No Supports
Print everything without generating automatic supports.
Manual Supports Included
The design includes manual supports on the center rod and the four wheel rods. These supports are part of the print and should simply be trimmed away during post-processing.
The threads are designed to print cleanly without supports.
Tip:
If the handle does not align correctly (this can vary depending on printer tolerances), you can fix it easily. Apply a small amount of super glue to the handle threads, then screw the handle onto the center rod.
Once the handle is fully threaded down, rotate it to align it to your desired position, then allow the glue to fully cure. This method will lock the handle in place while keeping it properly aligned.
Multi-Color Printing (Bambu Studio)
The model is prepared as a multi-color design in Bambu Studio.
If you do not want to print it in multiple colors, you have two easy options:
• Delete the extra color parts
• Or simply assign all parts to the same color / filament
This allows the model to print perfectly fine on single-color printers as well.
Assembly Instructions
- Screw the wheel poles into the threaded holes in the baseplate.
(V2 improvement – no glue required for these anymore.) - The parts are engineered to screw together smoothly. I have successfully tested the assembly with both my Bambu Lab P2S and Creality K1 printers.
- Depending on your printer’s tolerances, the threads may feel slightly tight during the first assembly. Simply work the threads back and forth a few times, and they will settle in nicely.
Files Included
I have also added a file containing multiple pre-sliced plates, which include all parts arranged for easy printing.
This allows users to directly print through the mobile app without additional setup.
