PortaBote Bimini Adapter for 1.5" PVC Pipe
Print Profile(1)

Description
This adapter is designed to let you install a standard Bimini top on a PortaBote without drilling into the boat. It uses a short section of 1-1/2" PVC pipe that slips snugly over the existing PortaBote gunnels, creating a solid mounting point for a Bimini top bracket.
The adapter sits between the PVC pipe and the Bimini hardware, allowing the Bimini to be mounted securely while remaining fully removable.
Use Case
- PortaBote owners who want shade without permanent modifications
- Drill-free Bimini installations
- Easy removal for transport or storage
- Works great for fishing, cruising, or long sunny days on the water
Required Parts
- Bimini top: 54"–60" width (recommended range)
- PVC pipe: 1-1/2" nominal diameter
- Cut a short section, approximately 5 inches long
- Bimini mounting hardware (standard hardware included with most Bimini kits)
How It Works
- Cut a ~5" section of 1-1/2" PVC pipe.
- Remove only 20–30% of the pipe wall lengthwise so it can slide over the PortaBote gunnel.
- Test fit:
- It should be snug enough that it won’t easily fly off, but still removable by hand.
- Slide the PVC onto the gunnel.
- Place the printed adapter on top of the PVC pipe.
- Install the Bimini mounting bracket on top of the adapter.
This creates a stacked system:
Gunnel → PVC pipe → Printed adapter → Bimini bracket
Hole Alignment
- Exact hole spacing is not critical
- If the holes don’t line up with your Bimini hardware, simply use a drill gun to make your own holes
- No need to match factory hole spacing
Notes
- Designed specifically for 1-1/2" PVC pipe
- Snug fit is important for safety and stability
- Fully reversible and non-permanent setup
- Ideal for users who want a clean, drill-free solution
