Achtung, alle Einheiten! A new unit has entered the field!

Introducing the Wiesel 1A1 the smallest armored vehicle's in service with the German Bundeswehr! Originally developed to replace the Kraka for airborne operations, the Wiesel is a lightweight, air-transportable weapon carrier now available in 1/16 scale!

This detailed model features:

  • Realistic, fully functional tracks
  • Working lights
  • Gun rotation of 45 degrees to each side
  • Elevation and depression for the main gun

This model is something I’ve wanted to build for ages, and now, thanks to the new Cyberbrick system, it’s finally possible. Since I operate a small 1/16 scale RC tank fleet, the Wiesel was a must-build right from the start.

This is also the second RC vehicle I’ve ever built. Up until now, I mostly worked at a print farm designing lighting solutions and creating H0-scale wagons.

For questions, feel free to drop a comment or ping me on the Bambulab Discord: @privatemiku

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • This model is designed with the mindset of a scale model, not a toy. It contains small and fragile parts that may break if mishandled.
  • Don’t change the layer height settings! For items like the gun for example, using a lower layer height might seem like it would improve the appearance, but in reality, it often makes the final print worse.
  • Please note: Track printing may fail unless the correct filament settings are used. (Tests were conducted on a Bambu Lab Plei plate. Results may vary with other plates.)
     Be sure to:
o    Use a layerheight of 0.1 as the objects standard.
o    Set the initial layer speed to 25 mm/s.
o    Set the initial layer infill to 50 mm/s.
o    Use Bambu Lab Charcoal Black PLA Matte. (Tolerances may vary for other materials.)
  • The “non-manifold edges” warning is a false alarm caused by using CAD files for 3D printing. This does not affect printability or functionality of the model. Running a repair may actually break things, such as dimensional accuracy and multi-color support. It is safe to proceed without repairing.

Want to print it as a display model? Or have you already built it but need the motors for a different project? Check out our Dummy N20 Print-in-Place with Rotatable Axle: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1703825-dummy-n20-print-in-place-with-rotatable-axle#profileId-1807092

Bill Of Materials

Below you can order all the components needed to complete the Wiesel TOW build. You will need either the Standard or the Ultimate Cyberbrick Kit, and you may choose whichever option you prefer. We also recommend adding the Additional Battery Kit for your Cyberbrick remote.

TPU parts are optional and can be used for the tracks and light covers.
All other components are required to complete the model.

Recommended Remote

To unlock all functions of the CyberBrick Wiesel tow we recommend using the universal RC Remote as listed below

Please note:
It appears that Bambu Lab units now come with 50 mm cables instead of 100 mm on the motors. These shorter cables may not reach their connection points. To address this, our bill of materials now includes loose 100 mm cables for anyone who needs them.

DISCLAIMER

This package does not include custom options (license plates, bags, tools, etc.). All customizations are available exclusively in the Full Package. Pictures of snow are mainly for visual appeal. the thin tracks struggle in snow

Need Support?

To help us assist you more effectively, please include which printer and filament you’re using, along with any modified settings. If a manual is available for your model, we recommend reading it and starting with the stock settings for best results.

Hi. I am having trouble with the electrics. I have downloaded the json.file and connected everything up according to your instructions. I am unable to get the back lights to work or the servo to pan the turret. The servo does work but instructions are not getting through. Can you help please? Thank you

Hi, thanks for reaching out! First of all, my apologies for the servo mount issue. It seems that in version 1A1 the support for the bracket was lost during the upload process. Unfortunately, my colleagues and I didn’t catch this bug during our double check after upload. We’re not sure what caused it, especially since version 1A2 still has the correct support, but the issue has now been fixed. Regarding the backlight, I noticed a wiring problem. The LEDs won’t function if there are empty slots between them. In the picture, slots 1 and 4 are occupied while slots 2 and 3 are empty, which breaks the circuit when using the hub. To fix this, please move the LED from slot 4 to slot 2 (slot 1 is closest to the cable). The servo seems to be wired correctly. could you give me some information on how you checked the servos working? currently i cant clearly see a issue.

Thank you for your prompt reply. No problem with the servo mount -servo securely in place. I now have backlights! I checked the rotational servo with a servo tester. I have changed the servo. I have changed the board. The servo is working as when I turn the power on it moves sharply a short distance but is not reacting to the right stick on either axis. I attach photos of the configs, which I can't see as being incorrect as they came with the json.file. I am so pleased with the print quality and build, as I was with your previous Wiesel. So frustrating.

Glad to hear the mount isn’t an issue. It could’ve been printed better tho. supports can be a bit buggy sometimes, especially during uploads. Im glad to notice it now on your pictures tho so i could fix it. I’m happy to hear the lights are working now! Looking things over, I don’t see any issues with the servo itself. The only thing I noticed is that in the angular servo settings, there’s a fourth option showing on your screen that I don’t have on mine. It’s possible the system is bugging out because that value appears to be empty. You could try setting it to 0 and see how it responds. The fact that it gives a sharp snap when booting is a good sign. Let me know if this works!

Nice model but could you make an ambulance version - it's just a regular one without a turet

Hi! Glad you like the model. Sadly there is no Wiesel 1 Ambulance. The vehicle shown actually belongs to the Wiesel 2 family, similar to the Ozelot, Wiesel 2 Mortar Carrier and Wiesel LeFlaSys BF/UF. These use an enlarged hull designed for support roles. Right now we are mainly focusing on the Wiesel 1 family. If the crowdfund goes well we can certainly consider the Wiesel 2 family as our next free project.

Hi thank you for the review. Sorry to hear about the difficulties assambeling. Its indeed one of our more complex models. Did the lower tow break during assambeling or during plate removal? I personaly havent had issues with it but would love to look into it.

Thx for the review! We keep our eye out on possibilities for working suspension and as soon as bambulab releases makersupplies fit for the job we will upgrade this kit. L3 is still on our backlog and working suspension should there be a possibility ;) Wishing you lots of fun with your wiesel!

Hi! This is a crowdfunding project, so the STL/object files are only available to backers of the campaign. To get full access to the STL files, you’ll need to back the crowdfund. You can find more details here: https://makerworld.com/en/crowdfunding/100-cyberbrick-wiesel-1a1-1a2-waffentrager-1-16

I figured that out finally... I was confused because there was a files section and it seemed to be populated. Thank you.
