Knic-Knax Knipex Sheath
Print Profile(3)

Description
Credit goes to @Swiss Mods for the original design. I saw his video on youtube and had to have it! The desing is excellent, but for whatever reason, I could not get the needle or tweezer/toothpicks to fit. I resized the model, messed with my hole offset, tried PLA, PETG and ABS - and two different printers. I don't know if it was the filament or if I was just unlucky. Undeterred, I downloaded his STL and designed a 1:1 copy (or as close as I could get) so I could start adjusting the hole sizes…. then it morphed into what we have here. Here is a list of changes that differ from the original:
- The bit holder is magnetic; utilizing two 3 x 6mm magnets that are press fit (I used a driver extension with the magnet on the end of it and press the sheath down on it until the magnet pops into place)
- Access holes to push out the bits. This was designed to be used with ¼"' stubby bits (20mm long) and they will fit flush inside the sheath.
- Relief hole on the back side of the sheath - allowing you to use the ratchet while it is still sheathed for added leverage. It also make removal easier.
- Adjusted and tapered hole for the swiss army pin and toothpick/tweezer slots.
- The sheath is thicker and holds the ratchet tighter.
- Vertical grips - for asthetics. This will hide the seam lines and lines caused by thin walls (especially noticable on shiny PETG).
- A slot for the leatherman micro driver
- Knipex slots slightly reprofiled for a more secure grip.
All of this comes at a cost. This sheath is a little longer but still very pocket-able. And it still uses Swiss Mod's Screwdriver mod for Toothpick holder
Here is a list of accessories used in this sheath.
- 6x3mm Magnets: https://a.co/d/2fxol9v
- Swiss army pins are expensive, and get lost. Grab sewing pins off Amazon. The round head makes them easier to remove; you can also crack the heads off with a pare of pliers which will leave you with a flat top head (just like the SAKs have). https://www.amazon.com/600Pcs-Pearlized-Sewing-500Pcs-Glass/dp/B09X2JSBHP
- Leatherman bits are expensive. Galvanox makes great alternatives. Grab a four pack here: https://a.co/d/b9kqluI
- Swiss Mod's Screwdriver Mod
- Victorinox Tweezer Toothpick combo: https://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Colour-toothpick-tweezers-spares/dp/B09T2R29PV/ref=sr_1_17?sr=8-17
- And if you only need toothpicks, print them!
- Mini ¼" bits: https://a.co/d/iVv0Dq4
- 711L Ratchet: https://a.co/d/2xEr3rZ
- Knipex Cobra XS: https://a.co/d/aN9Lnby
I've easily gone through 20 iterations of this before I was happy with the results. My final version was printed in ABS, however, it was also thoroughly tested in PETG. Let me know if any tweaks need to be make!
