🦣 Ouranosaurus – 3D Scan made with the Revopoint MetroY

The Ouranosaurus is a herbivorous dinosaur from the Early Cretaceous period, about 110 million years ago.
Originally from North Africa (mainly Niger), it’s easily recognizable by the large sail on its back — a structure formed by elongated neural spines, likely used for thermoregulation or display purposes.

šŸ¦• Quick facts:

Estimated length: around 7 meters

Diet: herbivore

Period: Early Cretaceous (~110 million years ago)

Distinctive feature: tall sail-like structure on its back

āš™ļø Scan details:

This model was scanned from one of my kids’ dinosaur toys to practice with the Revopoint MetroY.
The process was done in two separate parts:

🦶 First scan: the lower body and legs, to capture the base shape and overall stability.

🦓 Second scan: the upper body, back, and head, focusing on the sail structure and finer surface details.

Both scans were then merged into a single, cohesive model.
Even though the original toy is quite small and simple, the MetroY managed to preserve the overall texture and shape with surprisingly high precision and very smooth tracking.

Optimized for clean printing
Tested on real machines

AI may be involved in certain stages of the creation process; however, all models are systematically corrected, optimized for 3D printing, and physically printed before being published.
