Drill Press Crank Handle
Print Profile(1)

Description
This is a crank handle replacement for a Jet drill press.
The teeth of the original handle have worn out over the years so a made a new one. The model is almost identical, but two changes were made to adapt the design for 3D printing.
The curve at the end has been removed for several reasons, but mainly to minimize supports and achieve a cleaner look. Also, the teeth inside the head has been replace with an hexagonal shape to improve the strength and the grip on the drill press. The only drawback I see in this design is that the handle has fewer orientation options, but this is negligible in my opinion.
Dimensions
- Hexagon length : 17mm
- Upper hole diameter : 20mm
- Lower hole diameter : 14.2mm
- Screw hole diameter : 5mm
Recommendation
Since the handle will be in direct contact with metal, it is advised to use a strong and wear resistant filament. Engineering filaments should give better results, but PETG and ABS can also be used. If possible, opt for a fiber reinforced filament such has PETG-CF or ABS-GF.
Disclaimer
It as been tested with the model no. JDP-17. Compatibility with other models is possible but unknown.
