A simple but suitable filament spool guide for the Space Pi X4 and X4L filament dryer from Creality. This prevents the spool from jamming when it's almost used up. Because the spool is too light, it can cause the spool to skew. This can lead to printing problems or crashes.

I've had the problem a few times now where almost empty spools would jam in the dryer during printing, causing a printing error. So I looked for a simple solution that didn't require extra spool weight. Since there wasn't anything available on the market yet, I designed it myself.

I created two versions. One is attached with a screw. The other simply clips in. Both fit perfectly. However, I recommend the clipped version, as you don't have to drill a hole. :D

Printing Settings:

  • Material: ASA, NYLON, PC
  • 0.2mm Layer high
  • 3-4 perimeters
  • min. 25% Infill
  • Organic (Tree) Supports only for the roller anchor
  • Use a Brim

The pictures show how the guide is clipped in. First, the retaining clip is inserted at the front and then clipped into the back. This holds very well. And can be easily removed again.

I also designed a Heat Shield for the Space Pi x4 that is compatible with both versions. This prevents excessive hot air from hitting one spot on the spool.
