Brain Teaser

A small brain teaser for young and old.

It's very quick to print; all you need is a string approximately 12cm long.

The aim is to remove the ring from the string.

Assembly:

• The rod has a hole at the top through which the string is threaded.
• The string is pulled through the ring and then knotted or secured at the bottom of the rod.

• The ring is therefore trapped in the middle of the string, seemingly without any obvious way out.

   

Restoring the original state:

1. Lay the rod flat so that the string lies free.
2. Thread the lower end of the rod (pointed end) through the ring.
   • Now the ring lies on the string, but not yet in the middle.
3. Pull the string through the ring so that approximately the same length of string comes out on both sides.
4. Pull the ring to the middle so that it hangs again between the two parts of the string.
5. Now the string should again run through the ring and the rod should be secured at the top and bottom:
   • At the top the string runs through the hole in the rod.
   • At the bottom the string is knotted.
