Description

Introducing a 3D-printable, Morse G3 style development tank, a work-in-progress design for 16mm and regular 8mm movie film enthusiasts!

This tank brings classic film processing into the modern DIY era. Crafted from durable PETG, it's designed to be accessible for home printing. To accommodate standard FDM printer bed sizes, like those found on a Bambu Lab P1S or similar, both the main tank body and the lid are ingeniously split into two sections, requiring simple gluing for assembly.

Key Features & Print Specifications:

  • Film Compatibility: Designed for processing both 16mm and regular 8mm movie film.
  • Material: Optimized for printing with PETG, known for its chemical resistance and durability.
  • Split Design: Both the tank and lid are split for easier printing on standard-sized print beds (e.g., P1S). Assembly via gluing is required.
  • Optimized Infill for Strength and Material Efficiency:
    • Spools: Printed with a 25% gyroid infill, offering a good balance of strength and material usage.
    • Handles: Robust 100% infill for maximum durability during handling and agitation.
    • Tank Body: A sturdy 75% infill combined with 5-layer walls ensures a light-tight and resilient structure.
  • Style: Based on the renowned Morse G3 development tank design.
  • Open & Modifiable: STEP files are included, allowing users to modify and adapt the design to their specific needs or printer capabilities.
  • Status: Please note, this is an ongoing project and a work in progress.

This tank aims to provide a reliable and customizable solution for home film development. Get ready to bring your analog footage to life!

Hi Max, I really love the design — it looks great. I just wanted to ask how the chemical inlet and outlet system works. In the images, I’m not able to clearly distinguish how that part functions. I’d really appreciate it if you could clarify. Best regards,

I will also be shrinking the whole thing in the X and Y planes to 95% of its current size while keeping the height the same. This will allow it to print in one piece for the tube and lid.
