Description
Purpose:
This honeycomb light modifier is designed specifically for the IKEA Tertial desk lamp. It focuses the beam forward and significantly reduces side spill and screen glare — especially useful when working at night with multiple monitors.
Why I made it:
Despite being a great and affordable lamp, the Tertial causes harsh reflections on screens during late work sessions. To solve that, I designed this simple snap-on grid modifier that creates a narrow light cone, illuminating only what’s on the desk without flooding the whole room.

Printing tips:
No supports are needed. Print it flat, with 0.2 mm layer height and 8–10% infill — the grid effect is created using only the slicer's infill modifier inside a solid frame. Matte filaments such as PLA-Matte, PLA-GF, or ABS-CF give the best anti-glare performance. Glossy filaments can reflect light between honeycomb walls.
Assembly:
The modifier clicks directly into the IKEA Tertial lamp shade using built-in clips. No glue or tools needed. Fully reversible.
Customization:
You can adjust the beam width by changing infill percentage and grid depth in your slicer.
