NUC7 Modification for a Tool-Free NAS
My NUC7 had been gathering dust, so I decided to repurpose it as a 2.5-inch NAS for my parents to store their grandchildren's photos. Conveniently, I found 3D-printable files on Intel's website. My NUC7 is a NUC7CJYH, lacking an M.2 slot and possessing only one SATA port for the system drive. 2.5-inch HDDs or SSDs can be powered and accessed via USB 3.0, making full use of the NUC7's four USB 3.0 ports.
I purchased USB 3.0 to SATA cables from Pinduoduo; I recommend the brand "Maiwo," whose adapter I designed, and removed their casing after receiving them. I used two 2TB SSDs, not fully utilizing all four USB 3.0 ports—you can adjust this as needed. Detailed instructions are provided in the PDF. The necessary components are listed below and can be purchased on Taobao; you will require rivet nut tools.

If you are using mechanical hard drives and are handy, you can install a fan for cooling using the NUC7's internal USB 2.0 5V power port. You can request the STP file for adding ventilation holes, or I will upload a version with pre-installed vents later.
Key features of this modification:
- No disassembly of the NUC required;
- Minimal components;
- Reuses the original top cover, minimizing waste.
