Description

This is a riser for the WeCreat Vision laser cutter, intended to seal off the bottom of the laser more effectively to reduce smoke.

My WeCreat 40W is located in my basement - I bought the air filter package, which just doesn't do enough.  Instead, I've got the exhaust plumbed to a window with an in-line 400cfm blower, which made it much better.  Even so, the laser seems to leak enough air to make the room get really smoky and smelly.  I did experiments using towels to seal the bottom edges, and it seems to really help… there seems to be enough leakage in the laser body itself to allow the fan to suck air through, but this eliminates the wide gap around the bottom.  I designed it with a groove on one side into which the lip on the bottom of the laser sits. Alternatively, you can apply window insulation (foam stripping) to the smooth side and sit the printer on top of that.

The parts assemble with 5 pieces across the front and back, and 4 across the sides.  The tongue pieces just go the same direction around the perimeter.  I assembled with slight taps from a rubber mallet. Printed from black generic PETG.

Please let me know if you come up with even better solutions for reducing smoke!
