A Funny Story!

I had been working on a slingshot for a while, inspired by this model: Pop Up Christmas Tree (fast print) by WimV - MakerWorld.

Just as I was wrapping up testing and getting ready to share my design, I opened MakerWorld—and I couldn’t believe my eyes! Right at the top of the feed was this beauty: Pocket Slingshot | 20+Meters! by sdaendi - MakerWorld. My jaw hit the floor!

It was almost identical to mine—or at least the same concept! At first, I felt a bit disappointed, thinking I had missed out on a great idea. But then, seeing how popular his model had already become, I realized something even better: the ideas I’m working on aren’t just interesting to me—they resonate with all of you too! 😃

I know my version probably won’t be printed as much as sdaendi’s, but I need to share it anyway—if nothing else, for the sake of the story! ;)

Model info:

• It’s print-in-place and ready to use straight off the plate.
• Shoots 20m+
• Fits the pocket.
• <20g filament, 1 hour print.
• Best to print in PLA Basic or similar as it is more ridgid than PLA Silk, PETG or TPU.

Other Info:

• Ammo? For the perfect ammo, I highly recommend this: Slingshot ammunition "you hit, roll d12 damage" by Professional3D - MakerWorld (print at 45% size for the perfect fit). EDIT: I have now added it as an additional print profile for easy access.

FAQ:

• Sometimes the spring gets tangled a bit. How do I fix it?
  • Just shake it fast a bit forward and backwards, and it should untangle it self.
