Description

This hook is designed to hold a child's bike on the wall. I wanted a hook that would allow me to easily put the bike up on the wall and then take it down again without much effort. There are some other bike hangers out there that are stronger but usually require some sort of latch to secure the bike, which makes it more difficult hang or unhang quickly when my kids want to ride their bikes.

I've tested this with multiple bikes, from 10" tires to 18" tires, and from 15 lbs to 30 lbs. The hook holds all of them very well. It will likely work with bikes heavier than 30 lbs but I don't have any so I haven't tested it.

It is held on the wall by two #9 flat head screws

NOTES FOR MAXIMUM STRENGTH:

  • I've found the best strength comes from printing with 4 wall loops, but you can adjust as needed
  • It should be printed in the upright orientation found in the 3mf file. I originally designed it to be laid on its back so that fewer supports were needed but that means the layer lines make are oriented in parallel with the weight and makes the hook much weaker.
  • I recommend using normal supports, not organic supports as they tend to fail
  • I printed all of my hooks in PLA but I imagine the hooks would be stronger in PETG
