Introducing the 3D-Printed Children's Practice Knife
Hey there! I’m excited to share my 3D-printed children’s practice knife. It’s designed to help kids learn how to use a knife safely while practicing essential kitchen skills, like cutting vegetables and other foods.
The design is all about safety and ergonomics. The handle has been shaped to fit snugly in a child’s hand, ensuring comfort and control while cutting. To make it even safer, the blade isn’t sharp at the tip, and the handle design prevents a child’s hand from slipping onto the blade.
The knife blade is replaceable, and printing a new one uses only about 9 grams of material—so it’s super quick and affordable to swap out! While both PLA and PETG plastics are food-safe, I recommend replacing the blade periodically. This is because 3D printing leaves tiny gaps between layers where bacteria could potentially accumulate over time.
Check out the photos and the video to see how the handle is ergonomically designed and how it works in action! This practice knife is a fun and practical tool for teaching kids the basics of knife handling and building confidence in the kitchen.
Let me know what you think—happy cooking!
