Description

Customizable version of JamesThePrinter's famous Lockbox. My goal was to make other gift card boxes for other holidays. As this was my first big remix, it took some work learning all of the tools and stuff, but overall I feel like I succeeded in my goal.

-Ability to change the words on the side

-Ability to switch out the spinning lock part with a few other pre-set turny bits :-)

-Removed snowflakes around the edges to increase the number of use cases for the box

For the flower spinner, you can set the petals to paint at their respective heights, and pause right before they move onto the taller petals to change filament manually. As seen in the picture.

Those of you with an AMS or patience to change filament manually 30+ times, you can change the color of the text to make it stand out more.

Did you scale the box up yourself, so the side holes also grew, or did you leave the holes the same and cut it in the middle and put it back together? ^^

The latter! Loaded the box (without lid) into Fusion360, split the object horizontally at a suitable location, moved the upper part up by X mm on the Z-axis, and then simply extruded the resulting gap between the two halves and combined them back into one object

I needed a quick gift card holder for a kid’s birthday party. This print fit the bill (or the gift card, actually) at only a few hours to print. Simple to customize the text. I liked that I could choose the topper. I wish there were more options! The locking mechanism works smoothly. It is a VERY snug fit.Eventually, it did go together and now it’s snug and I have no concern of it coming off. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is the bow didn’t print very cleanly.

I am glad you liked it! Yeah, the bow is difficult to print as it isn't very printer-friendly. I think it looks nice if you have a well-tuned printer and filament it comes out decent.
