Description

A (almost) fully 3D printed pen!

This is a 3D printable pen with included mechanism and button that is fully compatible with Fisher Cartridges, most notably the Fisher Space Pen's. This is a very thoughtful present to any engineer (trust me, I've gifted it to one before).

The model only requires a cartridge, spring and optionally a metal clip.

 

Tips and trick

You can find the cartridges here.  Any “Fisher Space Pen Ballpoint Refills” will work.

 

The required spring details are as follow, but you can just buy it here.

  • 20mm length
  • 0.4mm inner diameter (ID)
  • 4mm outer diameter (OD)
  • Compression Type

The optional metal clip is rather hard to find on Ebay, on Aliexpress I found these to work really well.


The model has a text label embedded, you can modify it or delete by following the diagram below:

 

Clean your prints!

By default, the brim is turned on to help with the rather high Z.

Remember to use a micro-dremel or an exacto knife to clean the internal and external sides of the orifice and the button sides.

Hello! Yes, unfortunately that really is the limit in printing this shape. There might be a different one that could be studied to be printed on a side, so to dramatically improve speed and resilience.
