This is a part of Christopher Polhem's mechanical alphabet. Swedish scientist, inventor, and industrialist (1661-1751). He made significant contributions to the economic and industrial development of Sweden. The mechanical alphabet was the name he gave to collection of wooden models that demonstrated simple principles for motion conversion and which was used in teaching.
