Version 1.3:

  • Relocated the notch (addressed issues with manual unloading)
  • Increased pad holder wall thickness (a frequently raised concern, though insertion is now slightly more challenging)
  • Improved print profile, requiring fewer supports (ensure optimal bed adhesion)
  • Removed the wiper (I found it more hindering than helpful with certain filaments)
  • Model now features version information and a usable pad identifier on the reverse side

V1.2:

  • Adjusted notch position and design (resolved X1 compatibility issues with the “First Layer” check)
  • No G-code adjustments necessary
  • Added a wiper to facilitate better filament removal (currently undergoing testing)
  • Now compatible with A1 wiper pads

V1.1:

  • Minor adjustments to fit (depth)

Greetings fellow printing enthusiasts!

Are you also tired of residual filament (primarily PETG) ruining your prints?

Here’s my solution and my version of the nozzle wiper for P1/X1 printers. I personally use it with the P1S, and it works flawlessly. Following several comments from X1 users, I must inform you that version 1.1 presents compatibility issues with the activated “First-Layer” check. Please use version 1.2, version 1.3, or disable the check!

You only need an additional silicone pad (wiper) from the A1 mini or a similar one. A profile for the A1 pad is also now available. (But beware, the A1 pad is approximately 1.5mm thinner than the A1 mini pad. Consequently, cleaning effectiveness will be reduced.)

<<< appropriately sized

Secure it with a small amount of superglue. The double-sided tape on the A1 mini wiper isn't very reliable.

I printed mine in multicolor ASA. A heat-resistant filament is essential unless your heated bed remains consistently cool. ;-)

For those intending to print the model using PETG, I've tested it and scaling in the slicer wasn't necessary. However, if you encounter fit issues, simply scale the model to 99%.

Should you encounter difficulties removing support structures, here are some tips:

  • Remove the model while it's still warm
  • If the print is already cool, reheating it can help
  • A file or a carefully applied flame from a suitable lighter always works ;-)

<<< Post-processing :-)

Then, simply insert the model into the “waste bin” and press down until it reaches the bottom (secure model 2 accordingly).

If it’s positioned as shown in the image, it's correctly installed!!

I hope this model helps some fellow printing enthusiasts.

So, have fun printing!

Incidentally, this is my current P1S setup:

<<< and it’s running superbly…now updated to version 1.3

Had a mostly successful print; snapped into my X1-C easily, made with PLA-CF, but just one print later (using same PLA green to make logo; not fault of the print file), had a heavy buildup I couldn't easily remove at the knife-edge feature. I still wouldn't negatively rate this, but maybe its better designed for the P/A1 specifically? [Don't know if the silicone wiper affected mod performance, but I don't have one in the X1...(and maybe I'm being ignorant in that I could get the wiper as an acc?)] :-/ Going back to the Tef Roller for now, but this does seem promising for general performance and cleanliness.

I encountered precisely the same issue, and I simply omitted the central section using a negative element in the slicer—it has worked flawlessly ever since. I intend to revisit the file and refine the central portion with a PTFE cable insert—now I just need to find the time for it ;-)

Okay, I haven't encountered this problem before. It's clear that the cleaner isn't a panacea. I had more issues with PETG, often finding residue on the print bed or nozzle. This is no longer the case. However, I am gathering constructive criticism and may release improved versions in the future.

Does the first-layer inspection on the X1C still function with this mod

Hello, yes I tested it on a P1S with the original print bed Are you using an original print bed? If not, perhaps you could adjust the bed? There isn't much space, even with the original print bed

it's the original double sided smooth/textured plate. it only hits about 1mm of the part and I didn't even scale it for PETG print

But where are the squares? Mine also comes out like this, where the circle is empty? Are they sold separately?

Apologies! I need to investigate potential optimizations. Which filament type are you using, and which filament did you employ for printing the wiper?

I printed this and I have issue, printed already PETG and PLA, PETG is worse because it glues more, and it will happen like the other user with a blop of filament melted. My mistake, I didnt notice this was for the A1mini wiper so the wiper I have is too short. Anyhow thanks for the design but I think it needs improvement

looks and prints great, although I should have checked before to be sure I have the A1 Mini wipers - surprise surprise, I have only the A1 ones which are about 2.2mm shorter. would you be capable of adjusting your model to fit the A1 Nozzle wiper? I tried to glue it but it doesn't hold to to the petg and is still too low. Thanks in advance and appreciate the effort already.

would you be able to change the model so that the wiper part accepts the A1 wiper as well? it's just about rising the spot by 2.2mm, and i think more people would print it :)

I have the same issue only having A1 wipers. I couldn´t find any comparisons for the height measurement difference between A1/A1 mini wipers. Is the hight of the A1 wiper 2,2 mm lower than the A1 mini?

This was my 1st successful PETG-HF print (my previous 4 attempts all failed for different reasons on different models). This time, I set the bed start temp to 60 and then lowered to 45 for the rest...all else was default). It printed great, but I just need to get the scrubber piece to add to it.

Small request if at all possible. Maybe an alt version not for all, the 2 edges that hold the wiper pad print out as a single wall and i've broken them off twice with support removal (PC is not the kindest filament to remove supports from), there anyway to make them a tad thicker? Maybe a 2 layer slope just to give it a few extra walls to keep 3rd party plate compatibly?

Could adjust your extrusion width to add some more strength, or use a dissimilar material for your supports like PETG
