Motorized Bolt/Screw sorting machine for M2-M6 Bolts.

This Machine Sorts your bolts by their size.

Supported Screw/Bolts Sizes:

  • M2
  • M3
  • M4
  • M5
  • M6

Max Length: 60mm

Important! Bolts that are too short for their size will cause problems as their dont self align then in the modules. 

Example: M6x8 is too short but M6x12 works

Nuts are not supported.

 

 

Tested Screw/Bolt Types:

Cylinder head screws

They work great as the device was designed specifically for them

 

Countersunk head screws

They get lifted standing alot and get stuck on the ramp quite often. They require quite some manual error fixing.

Its probably easier to sort them by hand.

 

hex screws/bolts

They Work but sometimes get stuck in the printing lines during the lifting process. This stops the machine and you need to push the bolt manually to continue. They sometimes have problems rolling to the next wall because of their hex head shape.

PRINTING

i printed all parts with 0.2mm and a 0.4mm nozzle.

The only parts that require Support are the Lifter

 

and the Body (worked for me without support as well but its cleaner with support)

 

Motor

I chose the LA001 Motor Makerworld offers. You can purchase it directly from here.

but you can buy the Motor from other sources as well.

You can plug in into a powerbank or any other 5V usb slot.

2 M3x25 Screws are required to screw the motor to the Motorblock

 

Assembly

There are Assembly instructions at the end of the Youtube video on Top

 

 

HOW TO USE

You Pour your bolts into the hopper (only supported types and sizes)

Then you place in the Modul of the biggest bolts you have

You plug in the motor to a Powerbank and let the device run until the hopper is empty.

one tray should contain bolts that are smaller than the Modul size and the other tray should contain only the size of the modul.

As the device is not 100% accurate there might be some bolts in that tray. (more about the accuracy later). Now you can either remove the few wrongly sorted bolts by hand or sort the bolts from that tray again.

Empty the tray with the Modul bolts. 

After that you switch the modul to the next size and pour the bolts from the other tray back in the hopper and repeate the whole process until all bolts are sorted.

 

!IMPORTANT!  I do not reccomend to leave the device alone when running. stay in the same room in case of jams or other failures happen

 

 

ACCURACY

I did many tests and the average error rate is about 2%. This may vary for you.

My tests contained the following screws of random sizes:

  • 25 M2 screws
  • 25 M3 screws
  • 25 M4 screws
  • 25 M5 screws
  • 25 M6 screws

  • What happens with bolts bigger than M6?
    • They will not be picked up by the lifter and remain in the Hopper

I made some minor modifications, aiming to reduce printing time as well. Roughly as follows: 1. Reduced the size of the Hopper component 2. Decreased the height of the Body component 3. Reduced the height of the Tray 4. Used heat set inserts with M3 screws for fastening at the connection points. 5. Added heat set insert holes to the Motorblock for securing the motor. 6. Created additional space in the Motorblock to accommodate TT motors with dual-shaft configurations. 7. Replaced the original connection shaft between the Motorblock and the gear with a 5x35mm pin to avoid breakage due to printing orientation issues.
