Description

Updated v2 added!

The first version was one a bit delicate and could get small printing smudges that ruined it. Have been trying new ways of doing the click.

This is the update and also have tried with PETG this time around. Ended up working nicely without grease.

The Click ring

The idea today was to combine a ring with a "click!".

Drawn in Freecad, took way to many iterations to get tightness and the right click feel, but now it works!

Experimented with several print profiles and managed to make the print worse in some iterations, but attached settings worked. Needs to have fine layer setting to print the spring. Now have many prototypes that can be shared with friends and their children 😊

Bambu PLA silk looked nice in the ring part, but the pin broke immediately at assembly, but the button-spring worked well.

I put some PTFE spray grease on shaft and surface that the spring moves across to make the click movement smoother.

It needs some clicks to loosen up. I guess it is the scarf seam that needs to wear down.

do you want the spring removed? I can do that and publish a new print profile

I think just moving the spring just a little bit closer to the thing you press but like just barely

Another thing, did you add some grease? (I used PTFE spray), that makes the motion more distinct. I made a test concept print now with a higher ridge. Without grease the click wasn't so high even for that model. But with grease it is.

was great but there was no click and couldn’t figure out which way to put it in but would rate it a 8.5out of 10

Hello, thanks for the comment. I started modelling again after many years when I just recently got my first 3D printer. I wanted to create a click ring concept, the first iteration gave a click, but was very difficult to print and broke easily. So I updated with this one. But the click is less pronounced. I have been thinking about adding a higher ridge to the model. Then there might be a better click. I will do some concepting, but currently I have too many other ideas in parallel that I want to develop 😊
