Have a knife day!   Over-engineered OTF. Also good for brenchmark print. Lots of variants. Lots of patterns. Fully 3D printed. Upgradeable. Good as gift. Also very nice as comb.

(This is an over-engineered model. Please always print using a print profile and DO NOT try to slice it yourself!)

This accurate model requires printing using the most reliable filament and printer settings. Good as a benchmark testing your machine and filament setup. If you are confident in your settings, you may want to try changing the filament. But you can also try the spring kit set profile. This will, to some extent, force the overturning of certain errors. Please let me know the results. Good luck.

The main problem is warping: The front cut out becomes smaller. The blade failed to catch the spring for ejection. Strongly suggest Liquid Glue in BambuStore. 

Filament issues: The push lever is difficult to move(a common problem with silky), or if the parts need to sanded, this means you need to try a different filament colors/types. 

Installation issues:  The latch lever is oriented in a "V" shape, not an "A" shape. Pull the blade all the way out (reference time 1:06 in the video) and the latch lever will prevent it from returning. Now you can install the top cover.

(Don't blame a model or print profile by giving a low rating. It won't help you to be successful with your next print at all!)

 

 

****No hardware required.  But if you want to use metal spring, here you go the upgrade kit using BA001, BA002

****Based on my experience, not all PLA filaments are suitable for precision printing.

**** Profile well testing using PETG-HF and PLA Basic, Sparkle and Marble. Strongly suggest PETG-HF, especially for the spring. And the PLA Silk Dual Color is not good for this precision print.
****If mixing filament types (e.g. PETG with PLA) for multiple colors, it is best to disable flow calibration.

Optional Push Buttom. (Indeed I made the button with jimping texture at the very beginning. Over the development time and stress test, that jumping texture really hurt my thumb. btw. Thumb pain indicates that the OTF is not working properly. You're trying to cover all the print and filament error with your Hulk thumb. A good OTF can be triggered through your pinky finger!

Definitly deserves the title of 'over engineered'. Works absolutely perfect right from the printbed. A really high quality print! Plus, through your designe I learned about the mechanism powering it. So, learned something new, and I have a new gadget. Thanks man 😉

Slim Pattern D. Must use less warping filaments.
Works great in PLA basic! Printed a couple in PLA Matte and the springs are a little weak so i would recommend printing the springs in PLA basic. Printed a 200% size and it works flawlessly, great file!

Standard Inflate Pattern E. Must use less warping filaments
This printed great in sunlu matte black on an A1. if you have issues with friction issues from squeezing a little too hard like I did, rubbing an extremely light amount of parrafin wax under the switch and in the groove where the blade slides made it buttery smooth. (I used a clean part of a candy wax bottle I melted down that I usually use on doors)

Printed as advertised. Works exactly how it should. For best finish I recommend printing on a smooth plate rather than the textured plate, as the "blade" retains the texture of the plate.

You are good can print on smooth plate. I only can do on texture plate as this is the standard gear and I must proof all my design with it before release. :P

Other then wash and dried, try increase first layer nozzle temperature or change filament. :P

If I could make only one suggestion that would make this model functionally perfect. It needs some traction on the extend and retract button. I find that I am pressing down too hard to keep my thumb from slipping that I am increasing the effort needed to extend the blade. Other than that this is an amazing design and nears perfection.

love this awesome fidget. the spring has broken twice but I also used PLA in it so I switched go a PETG CF and hasn’t broke since.

Which brand and color is that PLA? wet? PLA is not long lasting but should be crack with just few days.

I printed my outside and blade out of PLA and then the spring part I used PETG-CF and it has lasted me a week and I’ve used it probably 100-500 times. I also put a little bit of WD40 into the mechanism to make it slide easier

came out awesome. none of the springs I tried would work at all. I ended up making a shorter version out of petg and it works perfectly now

yes, I tried those as well with no luck. I made one about 1/8" shorter than the shortest one in the kit and that worked. it may just be my filament or something
