The Horten Ho 229, humanity's first tailless flying-wing jet bomber. Its breathtakingly unique design belies its origins as an aircraft designed and built between 1943 and 1945.

Historically, the Ho 229 V2 prototype crashed after several brief test flights, failing to reach mass production before the end of World War II. The Ho 229 V3 prototype was captured by Allied forces and is currently housed in the National Air and Space Museum.

Never truly soaring, its magnificence is only witnessed in games such as War Thunder.

After considerable time invested in modeling, encountering a “pro-peace” paper airplane in a fighter jet competition left me profoundly disheartened and disgusted. My motivation evaporated.

A week of reflection, coupled with encouraging comments, spurred me to resume refinement.

  • Altered part printing orientation to enhance surface quality
  • Optimized fastening methods, minimizing the use of pins
  • Recreated the cockpit canopy
  • Added further detail
  • Included a complementary stand
  • Corrected internal manifold errors

Gratitude to the supportive community members who enabled me to complete this project.

Finally: Individuals espousing political viewpoints are asked to leave this community. Your self-righteousness is juvenile. 3D printing is a purely recreational pursuit; do not taint it with your abhorrent political agendas.

Our recreation of weaponry is driven by an appreciation of its aesthetic merit; global peace will not be achieved by your support.

Thank you, my friend. My last War Thunder session was six or seven years ago; I wouldn't have known War Thunder had the Ho 229 if not for your screenshot! I've updated the model, feel free to take a look

Great print, even with my awful assembly skills. I did have to trim the pegs slightly, but that could have been the textured plate adding just a touch too much. just need a stand, now!

It looks fantastic! I hope you'll address the outstanding issues, as I'm eager to print the complete model. I would never print the paper airplane!

I know the feeling, but keep in mind that these contests give you views and notoriety. I've received far more points I'm boosts from a contest than money winning.

Thank you for your encouragement! The main reason why I was hit was that my hobbies were interfered with by my political views.

Replying to @aoaobear :
I am sorry to hear that. I try to keep politics out (aside from an occasional joke about Congress) for that reason.

Yes, this is the crystallization of human courage and wisdom. The slogans of pacifists cannot deny its legendary status in the history of human aviation.

Can anyone figure out why one of the wings takes so much longer than the other? One wing takes over 2x as long as the other, is it something to do with my slicer or is there some major difference between the wings?

This doesn't seem normal, after all, the two wings are exactly the same, just mirrored. I tested it and found that printing each wing took the same time, 1 hour and 50 minutes.
