Description

Want to add a little humor and snark to your work day? These buttons are satisfyingly snarky and clicky. Just add some “clicky keyswitches” which are cheap and easy to find at amazon, microcenter, adafruit, etc.

There is an optional version of the button base that contains a little loop for a keychain so you can carry your button anywhere you go.

No AMS needed since the text is on the very top layer.

You can even customize the words to whatever you want. To do this:

  1. Open the project in Bambu Studio and switch to “Object View” in the left hand panel
  2. Right-click the object called “text_shape” and click Edit Text
  3. Choose whatever words and font you want

The following button sayings are include in the 3mf files: Trap Door; Flying Monkeys; The Hounds; Bees; Escape; Applause; Enhance; End Meeting; Robot Henchmen; Sharks, Go Away, Panic, The Kraken.

Assembly:

If your keyswitch isn't moving freely after you attach it to the 3D-printed stem, just reorient the whole switch by 90 degrees.

These are great! One of those things you don’t know you need until you have it. I embedded the text into the top so I could print these face down, looks cleaner IMO. I also sliced the radiused top off another so I could make the image and or text bigger. You can add an image to these.

Those look great!! How much filament switching does it need to do when you embed the text that way? I thought about that method but I wanted to avoid too much waste.

It has 5 filament changes but I would normally have one anyway because I print things like these as objects. I make the base one color and then the button another (the text is a third color but could be the same color as the base) and print on the same plate. I embedded the text .5mm (flush with the top), same as you had it raised. You could embed less, and maybe have 1 less filament change. If you have multiple bases and multiple buttons, group them together by color and it prints each color group individually instead of hopping back and forth making multiple filament changes as long as they all fit on the plate without colliding with the print head. Two bases and two tops with the text embedded in the button took 55min on an X1C with your default settings.

Good to know! Lots of good tips too. I'm new to 3D printing so this is very helpful.

These are hilarious, and are now scattered around the office. The only one missing that immediately came to mind when I saw them was "The Kraken"
