Description

I wanted to create a ventilation system that goes straight up and doesn’t require any modifications to the printer. Everything attaches to the printer using magnets.

If I move the printer, I want to be able to disconnect the ventilation from the hose easily. To achieve this, I made a “quick connect” system using magnets as well.

I had a lot of 8x2mm magnets, so I used those. I bought them on Temu, but they’re actually closer to 8x1.57mm. If you don’t have magnets, you should be able to use double-sided tape instead. I added more holes for magnets than you’ll probably need, as I wasn’t sure how many I’d want and didn’t want to reprint the backplate if I decided to add more later.

One of my goals was to minimize the use of supports. You’ll need some, but not much.

If your hose is heavy or the magnets aren’t strong enough, you might need the extra leg, but otherwise, it’s not necessary.

All the parts were printed with 5% infill gyroid, 0.2mm layer height, and tree supports set to “support critical regions only.”

The ventilation hose I use has a diameter of 102 mm, but feel free to ask if you need a different size.

I’ve also included a test piece for the magnets. Print it with the hole facing down on the plate—that’s how most of the other parts will need to be printed as well.

There are two slides, Slide A and Slide B. The difference between them is the angle—Slide A has less angle than Slide B (see picture).

The files are probably not oriented correctly by default, and I apologize for that.

Let me know if it’s perfect now or needs any further tweaks!

What if you rotate it for bottom exhaust? I am very impressed with this design! I need this for a bottom facing hose connection. Reviewing your build files, as the linkage connects to the baseplate for the 2 fan shrouds, it should be dimensional and just mount with it facing down... is there enough clearance for the waste funnel below with the magnet ears on the hose connector? I'm just looking at the pics so far, and hard to tell if it will work. I may just print it to see if it works ;) oh, and another item for me, is that I need the waste to exit on the left side of the printer . also appears like I can adapt the shoot for the other direction. Good work!

No need to reply - I just saw your comments/response on printables. - Fully Understand! @TimothyHutch_2883366 I'm also sorry to say that i don't think i want to make the change so it facing downwards. The hose connector is forcing me to shrink the funnel so i wont feel comfortable to have it that way.
