Description

Make learning math fun with this interactive balancing scale! Each number has been precisely modeled and sliced to match its weight in grams (Number one is 1g, Number two is 2g and so on). The balancing scale can therefore be used to perform simple arithmetic! The print also comes with ten 1cm x 1cm cubes that are designed to be 1g each. Use these cubes to solve simple math problems (Ex: 3 cubes = Number 3). The print is two plates (balancing scale is on Plate 1, Numbers and cubes are on Plate 2).

The balancing scale can be assembled easily without any tools (see assembly pictures/ video for assistance) and is capable of achieving a pretty remarkable balancing precision of +/- 1g (~0.04oz)! It could therefore very well be used as a functional measuring scale in many other applications. Only a few supports to remove.

If you like the print, don’t forget to rate, comment and boost!

Enjoy!

Amazing, and just in time for my 6years old daughter . But numbers easily slide and drop out of the plates. A little edge would be nice to avoid that

Thanks for the feedback! I considered adding a small lip but that would have required supports which I was trying to avoid. Also it looks like you’ve got the arms installed upside down 😉

Thanks for the found; I'll reverse it

For edges might be it can be clipsed in little holes you can make on the plates. So by printing the edge as a différent pièce, you avoid edges

@illwillb hmmm I beg to differ, mine works just as shown in the gif and I play with it with the kids every otherday. Could you please elaborate on what specifically doesn’t work for you? The arms should move completely freely when working properly.

it doesn't balance properly. when items are put on it to balance, they don't balance as they should according to their weight. Does that explain it? you can differ all you want, I'm the one here using it. not sure what went wrong, but mine doesn't work as it should. thanks 🙏

Haha alright so for those of you reading through the comments, this person commenting decided to block me.. had they not blocked me I would've asked the following questions to try and troubleshoot shoot the issue: -Which printer are you using? I'm using an A1. Any Bambu lab printer will work just fine but lower quality printers will have lower resolution which could cause interference issues. -Did you slice the model yourself? Like the description says, I've carefully designed and sliced the cubes and numbers to have exactly the desired weight in grams. Make sure to print from the print profile. -Lastely, I'm sure the scale has a weight limit (It's only plastic afterall!). Heavy items will cause the pin joint to deform slightly, causing additional friction thus reducing the balancing scale effectivity. The number and cubes provided with the print will 100% balance. It will also balance other small items quite nicely (coins, pens ect..). Will it balance a brick? No.. ;)

I was curious so I did some testing :) Still balancing well at 100g! In fact, I could tell that one of my butter knifes was lighter than the other by about 3g, pretty neat!
