Description

Description:

You don’t need to have an AMS or MMU, in order to print HueForge!

Follow the printer setting and layer color changes the instructions below. Add the color changes in your slicer by adding a pause or color change, accordingly in your slicer of choice. You can swap colors manually when your printer stops as designated in your slicer.

On AMS Lite, I loaded 4 of the first color filaments. After slicing, note when the second color ends printing and switches to the 3rd AMS color, so you can go back and switch your filaments to the last two colors. When both 1st and 2nd colors are done, manually pull them out by holding the yellow push button on the AMS and rewinding them onto the spool. Then insert the 5th color into the AMS 1 manually, and 6th color into the AMS 2 manually. Push them in manually about half the length of the tube on the AMS. You won’t be able to change print settings, but as long as you’re using pla, the print will be ok. The AMS will automatically retrieve the 5th and 6th colors when it’s time for color change. I’m attaching a screen shot of the print window where the filament gets designated for each of the AMS spots. Hope this helps.

Print at 100% infill, with rectilinear infill, .4 nozzle size, with a layer height of 0.08mm with a base layer of 0.16mm.

If you scale it up or down, make sure that the height of the print stays at 0.09 inches, otherwise you won’t achieve the same number of layers, which is required in order to achieve the final print.

Swap Instructions:

6 colors used for this print.

Start with Black

At layer #10 (0.88mm) swap to Red

At layer #14 (1.2mm) swap to Orange

At layer #19 (1.6mm) swap to Yellow (or Gold silk which is what I’m using)

At layer #21 (1.76mm) swap to Beige

At layer #22 (1.84mm) swap to Jade White for the rest.

I actually love using the PLA Gold Silk instead of the yellow filament. I find that it gives it the extra flare and looks really good.

Please keep in mind that HueForge works by using the translucency in each color of filament in order to achieve color variations and shadows in the final print. Translucency in different colors also varies on the maker of the filament, so the final product will depend on the translucency of filaments you use.
